a journal to discover God's truth
and apply it in our day

they've arrived!

velvetelvisSo this morning the door bell rang. It was the postman with a collection of packages, including the one I'd been waiting for. Excitement, Rob Bell books. Well not quite excitement, more of an 'at last' sigh as I can begin to get to grips with what this guy is teaching.

I've already read 2 chapters of Velvet Elvis and I have some comments and questions to make in a later post. I think my approach is going to be to state some things that were helpful and ask some questions of each chapter. I don't want to be too quick to give any precee until I have read both books thoroughly.

Initial thoughts are that he raises some good questions, but reaches some not so good conclusions. I also don't find him very clear. It is almost as if the more mysterious and unsure you can sound the more spiritual you really are.
